Makwa
I seem to be a bear magnet this year, seeing five different bears (this one in my back yard) and even finding a mummified bear paw by the fox den. Perhaps the universe is trying to tell me something...

Finished Chair
Sorry for the delay in update. I ended up getting trained on a new mail route and another week working mine. But I did get the chair done in time and it went to the Taste of Dressage in Eau Claire on 10/10. I left a little early but last I looked it was bid up to $50.
Edit: 1-14-11 Quick story behind the chair for those just coming to this post. It was a sturdy chair with a cracked back found at St. Vincent de Paul for $10. It was stained and painted with a goopy red paint that when I stripped the chair was quite strange. It took me two days to get it stripped. I then painted it a pale tan (fossil) and black with a dressage horse riding theme. You see, when a dressage rider enters the arena to perform for the judge "X" is the center of the arena. The rider always rides to X, halts and salutes the judge before continuing on. Hence, the chair says "Halt at X" meaning "have a seat and stay awhile." Ha.

Chair Wars and a Beautiful Day
Plans got a little changed around so yesterday I didn't get to the chair. Instead I walked and mended fences. It was such a nice day out, something we haven't gotten this month at all! So I spent the majority of it outdoors.
I then made a list and headed to the Fleet Farm. It is a good hour away so when I go I try and make the trip worthwhile. So after that, a trip for lunch and then to the bookstore to peruse books for 3 hours! Yup! I am terrible in that regard. I book I looked at the last time I was there, "On My Swedish Island" was haunting me since so I really read it good there. I may order it used somewhere. I just like books that write about simplicity, living with the seasons, eating locally etc.
So the chair didn't get worked on.
BUT I am in the process of the first coat of primer right now. Had to give my back a break. Then in 2 hours, sand and a second coat. Then sand and start getting serious!
